Mainstream

In the art industry we might find a lot of issues, or difficulties for discussing art in the open mainstream media. We might find these difficulties because of the wide specter of what the art industry is containing. The wide specter of art goes from music to sculptures, and the differences comes with how the art is “performed”.

If you think of the art of music, we find a platform that is more discussed in the open media, rather than if you are fascinated by the art of sculptures. By the different markets, which in this case will be music vs sculptures its more common to discuss the type of art where you might find it. Music is shared on social media, and often discussed there, or other platforms that is likewise. Both artists and interested potential buyers communicate through these medias, which makes it much easier to explore and find new stuff. But when it comes to other types of art, such as sculptures it’s not something you would prefer to just see a picture of and then discuss it. And this might also be because of the different perspectives when seeing it in front of you with your own two eyes. Therefor it might not be as easy to discuss that form of art in the open media.

Also, we might find that the open media often writes about things that catch the attention with a bigger “field” of interested people, which often not is art-enthusiasts. Unless it’s some world-famous art in form of a building, or painting. We can take the Notre Dame as an example. Its one of the most known buildings in the world, but its not often discussed in the open media. But it did become a topic when something tragic happened and it burned down. It was then discussed over the world, as a tragic. It might not be something you can buy, or by that value, but its art in the form of a building.

As I said before it might be difficult to discuss all types of art in the mainstream media, and I think the biggest reason behind this is the “publicum”. Some types of art-markets are easier to not discuss in the mainstream media, because it might not catch the audience we are looking for. And some types of art are easier to discuss in the mainstream media, because the audience is easier to reach there. But we also have these types of art that is possible to discuss both in the mainstream media, and the less “modern” media, such as paintings or photographs. And the reason behind that can be because of the availability of reaching out in the mainstream media.
