CHANEL

We all know about the high-end fashion brands and have some sort of idea of what the different brand design contains of. But do we ever really think about what they actually sell? What makes that brand special? Or who they must compete with? Because I know that when I see something from Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton or Chanel I never really study what makes that brand special, or what that brand has that is unique compared to the other brands like I mentioned, but today I am.

Chanel is a French fashion brand founded by Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, also know as Coco Chanel. It’s one of the most known brands in the world and competes against the other high-end designer brands in the world. Chanel is most known for its extravagant and classic style, but mostly when it comes to purses. Everybody has heard of Chanel, and everybody has seen or heard about the “Chanel-purse” at least once. Its iconic.

Of course, we have all the other brands who also design and sell purses, but the thing that makes Chanel unique is; that no matter what they do to the design, the iconic touch is always there. Even though they might look something similar, they are different. And the fact that they are still able to sell the original design, from the early 1900th shows us how strong this brand is in the fashion world. I think one of the things that make people interested in this design is that its very clean and natural in its colors and fabric. This makes it easy to fit almost every style, or occasion, which for many people is important when spending so much money on one specific accessory.

I think every design organization has something that is characteristic for them, which makes it hard to see the big picture in who the competitors are. For all the high-end design organizations they must compete based on all the products. Most people are no longer just interested in the brand name, but also how they produce their products and how they fit. Some brands are known for its more dramatic looks, while other are more known for its clean, natural design. I think this makes it hard for us to look at the competition in how the actual design look, but there for all the other factors that may play in – like the production.
