For the past couple of years Gucci has taken center stage in the fashion world industry with bold, maximalist aesthetic and must have pieces. The well-known brand is an Italian luxury brand of fashion and leather goods that was founded by Guccio Gucci in 1921. They started out as a small leather good store in Italy and now have become one of the most luxury brands of all time. Guccio Gucci’s idea was to create a design for the aristocratic upper class, specializing in horseback-riding gear. As Gucci grew in popularity, it became synonymous with high-class, elegance and glamour. It grew that big that the brand was associated with people like Jackie Kennedy in 1960. So the brand became very popular at a very short time. They operate with 278 stores worldwide, and it wholesales its products through franchisees and upscale department stores. Today the brand is valued at 12,7 billion and is a part of a much larger fashion conglomerate, and they are also ranked as the 38th most valuable brand in the world.
They compete with Louis Vuitton, Armani, Prada, Bvlgari, Versace, Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana and Balenciaga to mention some of them.
Gucci is well known for their designs that are both innovative and timeless. They are a high-end fashion label that is extremely popular for their craftsmanship and leather goods. It designs and manufactures woman and men’s ready-to-wear, handbags, small leather goods, accessories, footwear, jewelry, watches, eyewear, fragrances, beauty products, kid’s apparels and other timeless essentials. Their trademark is the two GG’s, the snake and stripes on their items so that it is easy to recognize. I would like to say that Gucci has a lot of different designs, they have some that has a lot of details and is very colorful, but they also have the classic ones. I would like to say that Gucci’s design is a modern, rather then contemporary and postmodern. I would say that because modern design refers to an era that has passes, while contemporary design is about the now and the future. Gucci has clean lines and some of the bags sill has the original traditional Gucci design that has been there for decades.
Their design has always been one of the highest ranked brands, and also is a good piece of art as well. Their fashion shows is artistic, fascinating and unique. Gucci creates all types of fashion for today’s postmodern society everything between luxury fashion and street wear, but also between different artistic fields. This brand is worked thorough down to the last detail and the lining and work is beautiful and extremely well done. Gucci is still very much an expensive luxury brand, but today its no longer exclusive for the elite.
