Exclusive designer clothes for cheap money? Yes thank you, you say. In today’s society, it is commonplace that cheaper copy designs from large fashion houses. What does this do with the originality of the fashion industry?
It is nothing new that cheap chains are inspired by or copy clothes from big fashion houses. Garments that are inspired or copied like this have allowed several chains of clothing to smile all the way to the bank. Norwegian chains have also taken inspiration from great designers when they launch new garments. BikBok is one of those who have been accused of this. They made a t-shirt that said Oslo on the chest and the pattern around is very similar to the popular Gucci t-shirt.
It is simply unfair for someone to copy another design down to every last detail and then make money from it. Other people’s creativity and time. It is not nice to steal and take a shortcut to make money and get out into the fashion world. I’d rather say it has a negative effect.
It should be a scheme that deals with the rights of designers. For example musicians have Tono who to a certain extent assure them that they will get a profit if the music is used by others, but that does not quite work in the designer industry unfortunately.
It so happens that girls who shop from clothing chains like BikBok know that what they buy can be copied or very inspired by other designers. It is often we can see clothes or accessories on other people that we are inspired by and that makes us want to dress in something similar.
The fact that clothing chains like BikBok have stolen known designs has had several consequences. I do not understand how anyone would like to copy another work. It has no originality and it says little about who you are as a designer who just creates something that looks like something else. You will be put in a bad light and it can be difficult to get a job. In addition, you can ruin for several young newcomers who have a dream. This must end!
