JOIN LIFE (ZARA)

La Vanguardia, DMODA.

As we can see in Seminar number 5. Values created depend on usage of design. And values produced in Industrial design include customer satisfaction and loyalty, customer satisfaction, innovation and creativity. And finally, Environmental or ethical. Business is also a social activity. Both its internal organization and the needs it meets in society depend upon social consciousness and functions (Heskett 2015).

The best-known firm of the Inditex group joins the fight for environmental care with a new collection.

Join Life, Zara’s sustainable line is already a reality. This representation of nine garments that is expected to become more extensive is now available in stores. At the moment, both in stores and online, it is possible to buy these garments that have been made with a sustainable use of raw materials, respecting the environment and taking care of the environment.

The main firm of Inditex is thus committed to a more eco-friendly fashion and thus takes its first steps in this sector of sustainable fashion, in which other similar brands have already entered, encompassed under the name of low cost.

Following this new line, we find the Inditex Green to Wear + project, which aims to ensure the good use of water, the use of renewable sources and ecological raw materials, such as organic cotton or recycled polyamide fibers. Thus, garments with sustainable use of water are called Care for water, which use renewable energy sources, Care for climate; and Care for fiber if made with sustainable fibers. All these options are under the Join Life label.

“At Inditex tour goal is to ensure all of our products are sustainable at every stage of their life-cycle” the Company explains. “In order for this to happen we rely on the Right to Wear + Standard, which is applied to all processes developed by our company as quality guarantee. We ultimately create safe products manufactured in proper social and environmental conditions; made available to our clients by a team committed to continuous professional growth, never losing site of its corporate social responsibility”.

So, we can see that this movement of a wider strategy by Inditex to ensure all processes from its store fronts to its suppliers are environmentally friendly, and this add value for the company, and have a direct impact to the image that they are giving to their actual and future customers.

As we can see, in July, the company signed an exclusive agreement with cellulosic fibre producer Lenzing to manufacture Premium raw materials from textile waste as part of the Spanish fashion giant’s commitment to the circular economy. The move is part of the company’s new 2016-2020 Environmental Strategy plan. As part of its proposals, Inditex says it is also championing research into technology to create new textile fibres from recycled garments.
