In the art-industries it can be difficult to create value. Some of the main reasons can be that most artists work on their own, and therefore must do most of the marketing themselves. It’s also a huge market where you compete with not only one but thousands of other artists. By being in this industry its often easy to get “lost” in the crowd, and its often hard to have a structured work-routine when you don’t have fixed working hours.

As an artist you work from your creative mind, which often put you in a difficult situation if you are blocked. This can also make it difficult to create value, because the audience often seek artists who deliver good work often. If you can’t use your creativity when it really counts its easier to get lost behind other artists, and often forgotten. Because of this big industry its important to make people notice you. And even if you are a great artist who create outstanding art it doesn’t matter if you don’t get your work out there where people can discover it.
To get out to a bigger audience you must create something a bigger part finds interesting or valuable. And if you manage this, I think its easier to create a bigger value in the market. This is just because its easier to spread your work, get a positive reputation, and will therefore give you some kind of value.
As I said earlier you often have to market yourself as an artist, and for some people it can be easier than other. Some of the reasons behind this can be as easy as contacts. If you know a lot of people in the industry it might be easier to get your art out in a gallery or fix an opening with potential buyers. For example, it would be a little bit easier for an artist in New York who has a lot of other contacts who run gallery openings or knows a lot of art-interested and potential buyers, to get a bigger “value”. Rather than it would be for an artist from a “small” place like Arkansas who don’t know anyone or don’t have the same resources.
TAnother problem most artists will encounter is to create something new and unique. Everybody seeks after new and exciting art, mostly because most of the audience who are enthusiasts often want something not everybody else has. This often creates a problem for the artists to be unique and get the value they are seeking or hoping for.
