A trip to the Vatican Museum

By Fourcade22

A few months ago, I was visiting the Vatican museum in the Vatican state in Rome. The museum was first opened in the 16th century and has had many visitors since. Both religious and non-religious. At the museum there are both things from the different popes, as well as lots of historical statues and great paintings by famous artists from the old days.

The Vatican Museum consists of many different museums. For example, part consists of modern art, where works by Picasso and Van Gogh are exhibited. There are also various statue museums where there are works from ancient Greece and Rome, ancient Egypt and much more. The museum itself has about 70,000 works in stock, but only about 20,000 are exhibited as of today.

So, now comes the question. How does the museum/gallery relates to its audience? In the book Arts marketing it states that the audience is probably the most important thing. And how does this museum approuch their segment? First of all, the Vatican musem does not have any certain age group or gender that they target. Mostly because they do not need to do alot of marketing to get the tourist to visit. That is because they are such a famous and traditional museum places in one of the most holy places on earth. People do simply want to see it, not just religious groups, but every one.

When i went to the museum i saw alot of different people. Both families, old people, young people and people from all over the world. And due to its popularity there was alot of queve outside the enterance, so it was alot of different companies that advertised guided toures that could skip the line and go right in to the museum. Personally i did not buy a guided tour, but jeg snuk in with a random guided tour to skip the long line. But that being said, i would recomend people to take a guided tour so you could get much more information about the arts that is on dislapy.

I would recomend everyone to visit the Vatican museum, due to its placement and all the historical art that is there. I personally got an unique feeling of something holy when i went there, and i am not religious. It is truely unexplainable.
