Clean lines at COS

One of my favorite clothing stores is Cos. The items sold are slightly better quality than what you find in the average high-street store such as Zara and H&M. Is this perception of mine only formed in my mind because of tidy stores with open spaces and clean lines? I think that the way that the clothes are presented and how the store layout is, is an important part of the service offered to the customer. This may also contribute to the perceived quality of the clothes being sold, justifying the slightly higher pricepoint.

When you enter a typical Zara store, most people find it chaotic and messy. An important reason for this mess is because of the big amount of fast fashion that get pushed through the store. The store´s inventory changes frequently, new items being added daily to the already full store. This does not contribute to give the customer an overview over what is in stock, and the items might feel cheap and the garments does not get the love they deserve.

Another reason that I find Cos a nice place to shop at, is the fact that the clothing racks are tidy and all sizes are displayed. This makes it easy to find your size and see other colour options. When you go to try on the pieces you like, the staff is friendly and will assist you in finding your right size and fit.

One could almost compare the Cos stores to galleries, offering a good overview of the items displayed. This draws the attention towards the clothes and creates a calm atmosphere. In galleries, the art works are the main focus. If the gallery was full of clutter and mess, it would take away the focus from the main objects.
