About

Welcome to Making sense of art and design industries! This is the blog of the 2019 class taking the Art and Design Industries course at BI Norwegian Business School. The industry courses (the live sector, entertainment industries, art and design industries), are a critical component of BI bachelor’s program in Creative Industries Management. This course is also open to all bachelor students at BI Norwegian Business School as an elective. Through the industry courses, the students acquire knowledge about the different parts of cultural sector, and this occurs through active participation in the ongoing cultural and economic conversations. The goal is this blog is to open a channel to enter this conversation, and for students to have sufficient knowledge navigate well in the complex waters of cultural life once they begin professional work. In the course about the art and design industries, we cover a range of topics connected to value creation, marketing and financing in art and design related work.

This blog is a place where students will discuss the issues in relation to the course syllabus, current affairs and own experiences in / reflections on the art industry. This is primarily not a place for thought-provoking ideas, but is rather a space for reflections and views that emerge along the pathway of learning. This blog is an extended classroom.
