Commenting on stinemarieb´s blogpost

By bighughhef

In this blogpost I will comment on stinemarieb´s blogpost on Dimitra Milan. The author starts the blogpost by introducing the artist Dimitra Milan and briefly summons her early life and why she is the artist that she is. Furthermore, the author describes how a majority of her paintings looks like, as well as a picture of one of her paintings is shown, which I think is great for readers that is not familiar with Dimitra´s work.

Nearing the end of the text, the author describes where Dimitra´s art is presented and how she is marketing herself and starts to tell what Dimitra does on her day job. At last the text discuss a little bit where her artwork is placed in the art market and whether or not the paintings is an investment object or not.

Overall, the structure in the text is good and easy to read, with the text divided by 4 columns with each column has a different topic.

I like how the author describes Dimitra Milan as a person and gives the reader a bit of info on how her paintings are made, and also what a typical motive of a painting looks like. It´s also great that there is a picture of one of her work in the blogpost. It is a good start to a blogpost and it´s easy for the reader to understand what type of artist the author is writing about.

In my opinion, the author spends a bit too much of the text to talk about the artist instead of linking the art to a topic from the syllabus. It´s not before the last column the author places the paintings within the alternative art market, talking about the artists domestic and international recognition, discussing why the art is not recognized in other markets and whether or not the paintings will increase in value over the years.

I think that the author could have written about Dimitra´s day job in the same column as the introduction, since I don´t think it has very much to do on where her paintings is sold or how she markets her art. Also, the comment on her day job could have been shorter and more precise, and not about 70% of the column.

All in all, a very good structured text with a good topic and description of the artist and her work, but I missed a bit more of linking Dimitra´s art to the syllabus.
